A little about each plant:
• Lavender is carminative (relieves gas) and anti-inflammatory. Because lavender is slightly bitter and aromatic, you could take several drops if you overeat or feel bloated. Lavender also helps relieve headaches for most people.

• Passionflower is such a beautiful vine and even looks passionate in nature. Some researchers believe that passionflower may help treat anxiety, insomnia and certain forms of pain because it may increase levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a chemical the brain makes to help regulate mood. 

Valerian Root promotes healthy relaxation and sleep. The name of the herb is derived from the personal name Valeria and the Latin verb valere (to be strong, healthy). Valerian root has 2 types of compounds. They both have sedative effects. These compounds include sesquiterpenes (valerenic acid) and iridoids triesters (valepotriates). Valerian may have a sedative effect. Cats are often attracted to its smell, since it has a similar compound to Catnip so keep away and off counters from your cats! We know from personal experience too!!

• Skullcap works for restful sleep by preventing swelling (inflammation). Other chemicals in skullcap are thought to cause sedation or drowsiness. Skullcap is an herb commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine. A member of the mint family, skullcap is rich in nutrients including antioxidants known as flavones that reduce the effects of oxidative stress on various tissues in the body. 

More interesting facts on Skullcap: 
Native to North America, Skullcap still grows in the wild in much of the US and Canada. It was used by Native Americans to treat rabies amongst other things – hence its nickname “mad dog”. The Cherokee used skullcap to stimulate menstruation, relieve breast pain, and to encourage the expulsion of the placenta after childbirth. Studies have since shown it exhibits “anxiolytic activity” in animals and humans – meaning it inhibits anxiety. Skullcap was well known among the Cherokee and other Native American tribes, as a strong emmenagogue and female medicinal herb. It was used in some tribes as a ceremonial plant to introduce young girls into womanhood. The Iroquois used an infusion of the root to keep the throat clear, whilst other Native American tribes used closely related species as bitter tonics for the kidneys. The herb was used to induce visions and as a ceremonial plant that was smoked as tobacco by some Native Americans.

how to use sleep drops:
as a night time routine, add to tea or hot toddy or take drops directly onto tongue.

children: 2 - 4 drops
adults: 5 - 10 drops

use before bed and do not consume before driving or operating machinery
